Beth Nelson LLC is a small private practice offering individual counseling, yoga and yoga therapy.
Therapy is a unique and highly individual experience with the outcome determined by the effort and motivation you bring to the work. In my counseling approach I focus on exploring client insight and facilitating empowerment. I feel that the client is the expert in his or her life, that the wisdom is ultimately there.
You may have an issue to fine tune, a road block to overcome, a transformation to uncover.
Mostly, I do traditional talk therapy within a base of Transpersonal Therapy. Transpersonal therapy is holistic. Psychological, physical and spiritual development can be integrated to facilitate the awakening of personal awareness. Some concepts of transpersonal therapy are
- Recognize and express feelings
- Recognize and accept self
- Recognize mind-body connections
- Recognize the present moment and be present
Yoga (as a mind-body connection)
"Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one's being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union - the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one's actions." ~B.K.S. Iyengar
Mindfulness (as a mind-body connection)
Paying attention in the present moment, without judgment.
As a counselor, I have seen how yoga and mindfulness create a safe place to be still and look inward. Restorative poses can help with stress management, anxiety, depression and more. Mindfulness can reduce stress and facilitate recovery from a negative experience(s).
Of course, integrating yoga and mindfulness into counseling is completely up to the client - simply a tool that can be used.
Create a place where there are limitless possibilities.
